By Emily Merrell & Elizabeth Roberts
For the month of December, we’re taking a moment to give the blog over to our members. Some are newbies, some are seasoned: all have a unique story about their time with SDS and the connections they’ve made along the way. We’re so impressed by how they’ve attended events and made friendships that contributed to both their professional and personal lives. If you’re interested in joining our community, which gives access to unlimited events throughout our participating cities, please check out membership options here.
A Note From SDS Founder, Emily Merrell:
I truly believe that all of our members are friends of friends of friends and with Krys, it definitely rings true. Having accepted an invitation from an Instagram friend for her first event, she has evolved into a community regular with inviting new friends or showing up solo. I can’t wait for you to learn more about her below.
SDS: What do you do and how long have you been a member of SDS?
KRYS LUKASAVICH: I am a personal stylist, I’ve been a member of SDS since April 2018.
SDS: How did you hear about us?
KL: I heard about it through a friend I made on Instagram. She told me how much she liked the events and people, she invited me as a guest. After that first event I knew I wanted to be a part of a community like this!
SDS: What was your favorite event with SDS and why?
KL: My favorite event was “How To Work With Your Dream Brands.” It was my very first event and from the moment I walked in, I felt so at home. Emily Merrell gives off such great energy and all the matches I spoke to seemed so genuine and supportive. It was everything I didn’t know I needed!! Hearing about how Tracy Dungo started working with her dream brands was so inspiring. I felt so motivated and energized after leaving that first event!
SDS: What has membership given you (new connections, skills)? What are you looking to learn?
KL: My membership has given me lots of new connections with some amazing and inspiring women. It has also given me a sense of community with likeminded people. I love learning more about myself, how to push myself and deal with challenges that I face every day as an entrepreneur.
SDS: How have you grown, professionally and/or personally, since you started your SDS membership?
KL: Having a network to lean on for support has helped me to grow so much since I started. It was difficult for me to reach out for help when I needed it in my business but after I joined SDS and started making friendships and genuine connections with people, I felt okay to ask for advice and/or hire other members to help me with what I needed.
SDS: Who would you recommend SDS to?
KL: I would recommend SDS to anyone who is an entrepreneur or is feeling stuck and uninspired at work. Someone who wants some motivation to make changes in their lives. This community offers so much, it can really help to go to an event to get that inspiration you might not be getting elsewhere!
