Event Title: Six Degrees Society Digital Event: The Science of Self Compassion with Courtney Carlsson

I’m Courtney Carlsson, Founder & CEO of Paradym, a modern mental health app programme with 8 week resilience courses for Gen Z’s and Millennials who want to change their lives and find fulfillment. We’ve built a community of over 45,000 across 150+ countries.
When I was 10 I saw my first councilor and that didn’t work which led me to feel even more confused and misunderstood. That set me on a 25+ year mental health journey where I tried everything from clinical psychotherapy to meditation and jungle retreats. I didn’t used to believe in “change.” I used to think that we are who we are, and that’s it. When I finally found the mental health support that worked, it completely changed my life.
I met and married my wonderful husband. I started Paradym that aligns my purpose and work. And I rekindled family relationships and friendships I’d screwed up.
I took my 25 years of learnings and collaborated with a stellar team of clinical psychologists, therapists, PhD Psychologists and Neuroscientists with backgrounds from Oxford University & Harvard Medical School to create a programme that gives you the framework for change, to grow, and continue to break any negative patterns.
Paradym is evidence based (aka we’ve published research and it works scientifically), and has been featured in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, Vogue, The Telegraph, Stella, Dazed, and was voted Rising Star by Georgetown University.
I’m half Swedish, half Filipina, born in Chicago, USA, and raised in London, UK. I’ve lived in Chicago, DC, New York, Paris, Singapore and Paris and speak French, a bit of Tagalog, Swedish, Italian and I learnt Mandarin for 5 years. I currently live in London with my husband and our boy, who happens to be a dog, Odin.
