Emily Merrell, Founder & CEO Emily, also lovingly referred to as “20 questions” has always loved figuring out people’s stories. Upon graduating from Denison University , she moved to Buenos Aires to master her Spanish and worked in various industries (ask her about Malbec). Following her return to New York City, she landed in the Fashion world specializing in Events & Marketing working at Ralph Lauren, Club Monaco, Tory Burch and INTERMIX. In 2014 she dreamt up Six Degrees Society and in 2016 she made her dream a full-time business. In her free time, you can find her exploring new restaurants, drinking bold bottles of wine, taking early morning workout classes, planning her next trip or playing the name game. Elizabeth Roberts, Strategy & Operations Director Elizabeth Roberts works at CNN Digital and obtained her master’s from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She loves thinking about the intersection of business and media, as well as writing about issues that affect women’s health, careers and personal lives. Her previous work experience includes the TODAY Show, Vanity Fair and NBCUniversal’s Content Innovation Agency. She is an alumna of the NBCU Page Program. Jess Mazelon, Content Director Jess is a Maryland native turned West Virginia Mountaineer. After graduating from West Virginia University, she moved to NYC where she pursued a career in publishing. After working for People Magazine, she became hungry for more and is now a producer at Bon Appetit and Epicurious Magazines. (Pun intended) When she’s not in office tasting the latest food trend, you can find her in the back at UCB’s Chelsea theater sipping on a $3 beer and studying the latest house team.
Cate Roepke, NYC Ambassador Cate Roepke is a born and raised Alabama native who also attended the University of Alabama majoring in Advertising and minoring in International Studies. After an internship in London, Cate decided she wanted to live in Europe for an extensive period of time. Cate moved to Madrid, Spain for two years where she soaked up every bit of the Spanish lifestyle; siestas, tapas, and copious amounts of cava and rioja. Her love of diverse cities brought her to New York. Currently, Cate works as an Executive Assistant to the CEO of an investment-banking firm. Cate also helps the wonderful Emily Merrell with Six Degrees Society (come say hi!) ! In the summer, Cate can be found every weekend at Rockaway beach hanging out and (most recently) surfing. In her free time Cate enjoys reading the latest Economist, exploring NYC neighborhoods, and eating delicious meals.
Ali Merrell, LA Ambassador Ali Merrell grew up in New Canaan, CT with her older sister, Emily. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Communications, and moved west. Ali began her career in Los Angeles in the fashion industry, assistant managing a Fashion/PR Showroom, Adam Drawas. After venturing on from fashion, Ali moved into the world of Human Resources, working in Talent Acquisition at an investment management firm, Capital Group. Now, Ali leads all college recruiting efforts for summer intern and full-time hires at Capital Group. She resides in Los Angeles with her four legged love, Caleb.
Caroline Brayson, San Francisco Ambassador Caroline Brayson – a New Yorker born and bred – recently packed up, headed west, and relocated to San Francisco. She made a career in PR out of her passion for connecting with people and storytelling, and recently started working at a communications agency here in SF called LaunchSquad. When she’s not exploring new restaurants and neighborhoods around the city she now calls home, she loves to travel, and has spent time living in Barcelona and Buenos Aires where she perfected her Spanish and took it upon herself to sample all the Malbec and steak that Argentina has to offer.
Liz McLaughlin, Boston Ambassador Liz grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and moved to Boston when she was 7. With a passion for adventure and culture she spent a semester abroad in London where she traveled to 13 additional cities in Europe. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Communications and Business Administration. Upon graduation, she landed in tech sales at EMC Corporation in the six-week intensive Sales Associate Program. Realizing her lack of passion for IT, she made the switch to commercial real estate in 2014. She now works as a commercial real estate advisor/broker at Cushman & Wakefield focusing on office tenant and landlord leasing in Greater Boston. In her free time, you can find her online shopping, in a Soul Cycle studio, or exploring new restaurants.
Liz Donohue, Chicago Ambassador Liz Donohue recently moved to Chicago from NYC. She has been busy exploring and learning the city (when it’s not too cold) and would love to hear your Chicago favorites! Liz is the Senior CRM Manager at ParkWhiz, a Chicago parking / tech startup. She loves to talk email strategy, customer analytics, and most things marketing related. Prior to ParkWhiz, she worked at Shutterstock, Tory Burch, and Panerai. Outside of work, she loves reading (most recently Ta-Nehisi Coates’ ‘Between The World And Me’), cooking (especially pasta and Mexican), and planning vacations. Liz is a graduate of the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
Christina Jacke, LA Ambassador Christina Jacke is an experienced hospitality professional with a focus in Human Resources. She attended Howard University in Washington D.C. with a degree in Communications. Her love for hospitality began after working for the Ritz Carlton brand. She has also worked in both New York and Los Angeles for W Hotels and Jetsetter. A Los Angeles native, Christina enjoys LA weather, working out, and all the new restaurants and hot spots LA has to offer. Her other hobbies include traveling and interior design.
Talia Bailey, San Francisco Ambassador Talia is a native New Yorker who relocated to California a few years ago and caught on quick. Before SF, she spent her days sampling wine and cheese across Brooklyn, Paris and (colonial) Williamsburg, VA. Her career has been focused on marketing, PR and sales for tech and media companies, such as The New York Times and Cosmopolitan. In her free time, she loves to travel – weekend trips in the West and huge adventures alike, pore over home design websites and blogs, hike around the Bay Area and cook delicious meals for friends.
Megan Yazdani, San Francisco Ambassador Megan is the founder and voice behind fashion blog, attn: To Detail. She marries her love for fashion, all things lifestyle, and her previous experience as a news reporter to curate content that not only informs but inspires woman to greater appreciate life’s everyday details. Megan moved to San Francisco six years ago after spending most of her life in small-town Kentucky. She currently works in tech sales by day while maintaining her blog in her spare time. If she’s not at one of her two jobs Megan enjoys early morning walks to the Golden Gate Bridge, drinking delicious red wine, and planning her next getaway!
Alice Hu, DC Ambassador Alice is originally from the Washington, D.C. area. For the last five years, she has been working in digital marketing in Shanghai, China. During her time in Shanghai she also had a few side projects: co-founding an email newsletter, giving dumpling tours and blogging about travel and food. Alice has recently returned to D.C. and is excited to see how the city has changed and how she can make an impact. She is a co-founder at BigSpool, a company changing traditional notions of retail and consumer products by utilizing data to identify unmet demands and quickly creating products with rapid production tools to capture these opportunities. Aly Thomure, Atlanta Ambassador Aly Thomure, born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, originally moved to Georgia to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design. Throughout college, she fell in love with the South and was thrilled to have the opportunity to move to Atlanta upon graduation where she launched her career as a designer at Carters/OshKosh B’gosh. After five years in the corporate world, she decided to make her personal passions of architectural design and decor a livelihood by becoming a REALTOR®. In her free time, Aly enjoys cooking, trying the areas newest restaurants, traveling, animals, painting, drawing, graphic design, print and pattern making.
