Event Title: Six Degrees Society Digital Members Only Presents: Planning Parental Leave When You’re Self-Employed with Jen Mayer of Baby Caravan
What’s Happening? When you’re self-employed and pregnant or welcoming a baby into your family, it’s daunting to create, financially fund, and logistically implement maternity or parental leave. There are so many questions that come up like, “How long should I take off? How much do I need to save to make parental leave possible? Will I be able to pull this off? Will I lose all my clients and business?”
We are here to answer these questions and more. We’ll cover state by state current benefits that are available, what to budget for, how to project plan your leave, and more.

About Jen Mayer: I’m a mom of two, a doula, an agency owner and an Accredited Financial Counselor candidate. I’ve been self-employed my entire adult life. My passion is teaching self-employed expectant parents how to create, financially self-fund, and implement their 3-6 month parental leave so they can enter parenthood with less stress and financial confidence.
When I’m not working with expectant and new parents, I love to take walks around my Brooklyn neighborhood, catch a streaming workout class (I love The Class by Taryn Toomey), and hunker down at home with my family and cats (it is the COVID lifestyle afterall!) My family and I live in New York City, but I grew up on a farm in the Hudson Valley and love to spend as much time as I can up there.
Cancellation Policy: We have a 12 hour cancellation policy for our events. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to cancel. For members, please note that a no-show or cancellation (less than 12 hours before an event) will result in being charged a $12 fee. Remember, last-minute cancellations affect the people you’re matched with – we appreciate your cooperation to ensure everyone has the best experience possible!
