Six Degrees Society Digital Presents Make a Decision Like a Pro with Leanne Shear, Female Empowerment Expert
Decisions, decisions. Who among us hasn’t been stuck between the proverbial rock and hard place? Leanne Shear certainly has, and we’re excited to welcome her to our May 6th event.
In this wide-ranging discussion, Leanne, an entrepreneur, writer, and female empowerment expert, will dive into the decisions she’s made, how she made them, and the consequences–good, bad, and ugly–of all her choices. This includes the leap into entrepreneurship, deciding to find co-founders and investors, taking the business over from said co-founders, growing and scaling, then ultimately making the tough decision to close her business, and pivot to something new.
We’ll touch on components of good judgment, and making the “right” decision even when there is no clear cut path available, and how to stay resilient as life evolves.
Before we get moving, each guest will get two curated 15 minute connections, handpicked just for them based on bios submitted pre-event here: https://goo.gl/forms/D8Tvyr3ygwPSwaGF2 or email email@example.com with a copy.

About Leanne Shear:
I can confidently say that I’ve always been a connector, especially of women, and have done my best to create an environment of empowerment everywhere I go.
It’s fitting then, that the motto for the first company I founded was “Strong Women Uplift Each Other:” That enterprise was Uplift, a progressive fitness studio and female society I began in 2012 that offered group classes, personal training and a multitude of events outside of fitness related to career, relationships, finances, and well-being (panels, retreats, workshops) that empowered women in all aspects of their lives. I closed Uplift’s doors to move on to bigger and better things in 2019.
Before conceiving the idea for Uplift, I was a professional writer: I’m the author of The Perfect Manhattan and Cocktail Therapy: The Perfect Prescription for Life’s Many Crises, and my writing has also been featured in The Nation, The New York Times, New York magazine, and Glamour, among others.
I graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania and received a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies and Cultural Politics from New York University.
My superpowers include sales (everything in life is sales!), grit and hustle, masterful people-connection, constant ideas and partnership generation, and female empowerment…if I haven’t mentioned that already.
Likes: Fun, open, super-smart people. Books on books on books. My amazing family. My amazing friends. Tea. Wine. Cheese. Kale. The French class I take every week at ABC Languages. Daydreaming (I mean, manifesting).
Dislikes: Nattering Nabobs of Negativism.
